Assistant to the management

Are you interested in a varied and meaningful job in a friendly and highly motivated team?

We are looking for an assistant to the management (f/m/d) to join us in Alt Madlitz with immediate effect. 

Your tasks

Supporting the management, the team and the office management in organisational, strategic and administrative matters:

  • Internal and external communication
  • Preparing texts for the homepage and maintenance of the same
  • Reporting (e.g. annual report, process instructions, etc.)
  • Office IT coordination
  • Other related office work

 

Interns and volunteers, FÖJ:

  • Application management
  • Onboarding/accompanying programme
  • Contact person for organisational issues on site
  • Preparing internship confirmations and certificates
  • Supervision of Erasmus+ project EUfarms


Processing of specialised projects and content by arrangement:

  • Scientific collaboration
  • Other project-related activities

 

Your competences

  • a completed degree or training in business administration, business informatics, office management, administrative management or similar
  • a good sense for people’s needs
  • a talented organiser

 

A big plus would be

  • work experience
  • initial experience of working with third-party funding
  • further training in the areas of team facilitation, team building, OKR or other agile frameworks

Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ)

Are you interested in getting to know our diverse areas and are between 18 and 26 years old?

As part of its education programme, the Finck Foundation is offering two positions for a Voluntary Ecological Year (Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr)

from 1 September 2024 – 31 August 2025 .

Are you interested in getting to know our diverse areas and are between 18 and 26 years old?

Then become part of an interdisciplinary team that you will actively help to progress and experience future-oriented, nature-loving work.

Your tasks

During the FÖJ you will work in the areas of agroforestry, tree nursery and compost. The work includes supporting activities:

  • maintaining existing agroforestry, soft fruit and seed systems
  • the establishment of new syntropic agroforestry systems
  • plant care, sowing and propagation of plants
  • in the production of compost

 

With us you get

Farmer / Forester

Are you interested in a varied and meaningful job in a friendly and highly motivated team?

We are looking for a versatile farmer/forester (f/m/d) to join our team at the Alt Madlitz site as soon as possible. 

 

Your field of activity 

  • Establishment and maintenance of agroforestry systems
  • Coordination of volunteers and interns in the agroforestry system
  • Employment in all areas of the agroforestry 

 

Your qualification profile 

  • Completed training as a forester/ farmer/ master farmer/ agricultural service specialist/ B. Sc. agricultural/ forestry science or equivalent practical experience of several years
  • Good knowledge of tree species
  • Good physical fitness
  • Class B driving license
  • Independent and conscientious way of working as well as good organizational and team skills
  • Enjoyment of both physical, mechanical and mental work
  • Passion and understanding for organic agriculture

Internships

Interested in diving into our diverse areas of multifunctional, regenerative and ecological land use?

As part of the impact area education, the Finck Foundation offers internships to interested people several times a year in the following areas for the periods listed: 

 

Are you interested in methods of ecological regenerative land use, do you have time for a period of at least three months and are you enrolled at university? Or would you like to complete the internship as part of your apprenticeship? Then we look forward to hearing from you.

Scientific cooperation

If you are conducting research in the field of multifunctional land use concepts with your organization or research institute, are actively involved in nature conservation, or are an economist with experience and interest in methods for the valorization of ecosystem services, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Students who would like to investigate or have specific questions on the laboratory areas we use, are also welcome to contact us for their thesis. Please fill out our contact form and add your questions, or collaboration requests.

Bachelor, master and doctoral theses

Are you studying or working at a university or college and want to do research on the topics of regenerative, multifunctional land use, biodiversity, soil life or nature conservation and are looking for a living lab? We will be happy to provide information for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses of students who want to investigate of data within the framework of a final thesis. Possible research topics: 

  • Soil health and nutrient management
    • Analysing soil samples to determine long-term changes in soil health (Master’s thesis, starting in July)
    • At the beginning of the research work in 2021, over 400 soil samples with over 10,000 punctures were taken georeferenced on the agricultural areas we investigated and analysed by five different laboratories. Samples were taken using both the German VDLUFA standard method and methods developed by soil scientists Albrecht, Kinsey, Haney in the USA and Husz, Unterfrauner in Austria. The aim of a dissertation would be to manage the first follow-up sampling, to analyse the comparability of the different sampling systems and to derive concrete recommendations for action for farmers who are confronted with a wide range of soil sampling methods and results (doctoral thesis).
    • Composting: Comparison of composting methods; development of a sampling design as well as investigation and evaluation of pickling tests with compost extracts and microalgae.
  • Pasture management: Yield and nutrient determination of grassland, catch crops and/or undersown crops for grazing and analysis of nutrient content and forage quality (Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis); Communication of scientific data to customers via a digital product passport for beef (Master’s thesis)
  • Agroforestry: Determination of the planting, establishment and/or grafting success of young agroforestry systems by means of (follow-up) inventories and economic evaluation of the establishment period (Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis); development of a monitoring approach and application for vitality measurement in complex agroforestry systems.
  • Forest conversion and wildlife impact in cooperation with the HNEE: Potential analysis and success assessment of the regeneration situation on forest conversion areas, dendro-ecological investigation of crown condition and productivity of pine under the influence of forest conversion measures, measurement and evaluation of small-scale variations in soil water content and the nature of the humus layer, analysis of the development of sown and planted plant communities.
